Coastal Details

Today, I'm taking you all inside my home to give you a little peek at my favorite coastal detail DIY's and my new landscape collection..

Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been drawn to the ocean. There is something so completely intoxicating, calming, and beautiful about the sea. And since I have been blessed enough to live on the beach for the last 6 years, it comes to no surprise that throughout my home, my favorite details reflect the sea and shore.

As an artist, I love blending natural elements into the everyday. Beautiful shells surround my space and sometimes inhabit a table, mirror, picture frames, desk, chandeliers, and pretty much anywhere else in my home. Pops of color in my paintings are scattered throughout my space as well. I don't mind that my home tells a story, I relish the fact that these details are what makes my house feel like a home.

I hope you find some inspiration for your home from my art and craft projects. You don't really need a set plan with the shell DIY mirrors and frames, but instead a glue gun, shells, and a little bit of patience.

Ashley

I think the thing that I love most about this space is that it reflects my personal style so perfectly!

Must-haves for mama-to-be

Pregnancy is an exciting and beautiful time in any woman's life but it's also fraught with dressing a burgeoning bump and figuring out what skin care products are safe to use. Now that I am pregnant for the third time, I thought I would share my pregnancy must-have essentials with all the other expecting mamas-to-be.

xo,
Ashley

1. Cross-body bags
As a pregnant mommy on the go, cross-body bags are the perfect lightweight, hands free handbag for any expectant mommy. As your belly grows, a big heavy handbag is just not ideal.

2. Cute Flats and Sneakers
As soon as your belly starts to grow, your balance seems to become somewhat questionable and flats become a crucial part of any pregnant mommy's attire. Lately, I am really loving the cool sneaker look mixed with a striped bodycon as my daily go-to! It's a fun pulled together look that is really hip and comfortable.

3. Flowy dresses
Since it sometimes takes well into the second trimester for a belly bump to pop, flowy dresses help hide the belly bulge and also happen to be really pretty. I was over 2 months pregnant with the twins and still not ready to announce my pregnancy during this photo session with my boys. Instead, I opted for this mermaid-style flowy dress to help keep my bundle of joy under wraps.

4. BodyCon Dresses
Once your belly has offically popped, a bodycon dress is the perfect choice. This style really shows off the bump and curves without adding extra weight to your growing body! Look for frocks with thin stripes or side ruching to keep your silhouette extra slim. I especially love Isabella Oliver's soft stretch fabrics that grow with you.

5. Maternity Jeans
I usually don't like to invest into too many maternity pieces that won't get the long term wear. But when none of your jeans fit, investing in high quality denim is certainly a must in my book. AG denim makes it easy, since you just order your regular jean size and it fits with an elastic waistband.

6. Maternity Tank Tops
The foundation for your pregnancy style, the maternity tank is a wardrobe essential. I practically live in my maternity tank tops and they are also perfect for layering. Be sure to check out Target's affordable tanks by Liz Lange.

7. Pregnancy Pillow
Sleeping can be challenging when pregnant. These days the only thing helping me get my beauty rest is the pregnancy pillow. It's ridiculously big but a good night's sleep is totally worth it. Although the pillow from Bump Nest is a little more pricey than others, it's quality makes sleeping a dream. Plus, it's pillow patterns would complement any decor. For a less expensive option, simple white is available here

8. H2O
As a mom-to-be it's also essential to be doubly sure that you're drinking enough water. Water helps your body absorb essential nutrients into your blood cells, which transports ultimately to your baby. With how much water I drink, I definitely have my eye on the cucumber infuser water bottle below.

9.Tummy Rub
Mama Mio's "Tummy Rub" is by far the gold standard when it comes to fighting stretch marks. It helps your skin adjust to pregnancy and also helps you recover afterwards.

10.Skincare
I often hear that my skin is glowing, but in reality the extra hormones sometimes create havoc on my skin. My skin frequently experiences dryness with occasional breakouts during pregnancy. Since there aren't  many products that are deemed safe to use, I love using Lush's all natural Cosmetic Warrior mask for my occasional breakouts. The cleansing garlic and tea tree oil freshen up my tired mama complexion.

Mama-To-Be

Counting down to baby twins with my favorite maternity photos from the last five years. Also, enjoy learning about our pregnancy story below!

After looking through all of these amazing memories, I am so incredibly thankful to my best friend Lindsay Parks for beautifully capturing the biggest moments of my life.

How I found out I was pregnant: Since Eric and I were not trying, I randomly took a digital test one night after my period was 5 days late. After I took the test, I soaked in the tub and completely forgot about looking at the results. As I was toweling off, I just happened to look down and see one little word. Pregnant!

I screamed for Eric and let's just say he was beyond shocked! We hugged and kissed as our two little boys clamored to see what all the excitement was about. They joined in for extra hugs and kisses too!

How we found out we were having twins: Being that this was my 3rd pregnancy, Eric and I scheduled our first ultrasound at 12 weeks to check on baby. Throughout the first 12 weeks, everything about this pregnancy felt completely different from my previous two. I was extremely nauseous all the time and never could quite shake it. In the past pregnancies, I would eat and always feel much better. I also noticed that I was gaining weight rapidly. At around 7 weeks, my stomach had already popped. In my mind, I knew that something was different. As friends and family would laugh and say "maybe it's twins." I would brush off the crazy comments by telling myself that this was my 3rd pregnancy and naturally it's going to be different.

On the day of the ultrasound, I was extremely nervous to hear the baby's heartbeat. Eric reassured me that I had nothing to be anxious about. After a long, nervous wait at the doctor's, we were finally called into the little ultrasound room. Oh, how I was overjoyed when the baby and it's little heartbeat popped up on the screen! My anxiety immediately subsided, but my intuition started to kick in. I turned to the sonogram tech and simply said, "it's only one baby in there?" She looked at me quite surprised and then said "why do you ask?" She then paused for almost a minute, and responds "there is a second baby!" We could all of a sudden see two babies on the screen at once. I screamed, "NO, I already have two babies at home!" As my husband is quietly sobbing, he exclaimed "this is the most shocking news of my life!" The sonogram tech then turns to me and asks if my husband is going to be ok because "he is starting to freak me out." She then says I know you're going to be ok, as I shriek back "I'm not ok!" Still in disbelief, we gather our belongings and ourselves as we wonder what the future holds.

Now that we have processed the twin surprise, we will always look back fondly at this one moment in our busy lives as one of those times when we realize that everything is about to change for the better.

How we found out that we are having identical twins: We were at the DR's getting our second ultrasound when a different sonogram tech mentioned only seeing one placenta. I asked the tech if that meant the babies were identical. Her response, not too convincing, was "I think so." Since, I already knew that one baby was a boy from an earlier blood test, my hopes for a little girl were quickly becoming obsolete. Although, I left the DR's office feeling happy about everything looking healthy, I still wasn't entirely convinced the babies were identical, especially since we could only see the sex of one little baby boy.

This week was my first appointment with the fetal specialist and I was beyond anxious to say the least. The hi-tech sonogram was long and stressful but both babies were healthy, normal, and baby boys! The doctor then came in and determined the twins were definitely identical based on having only one placenta and a thin separating membrane. With the identical diagnosis my pregnancy now becomes much more hi-risk.

I will be seeing this specialist every 2 weeks until 30 weeks (10 more weeks) due to the extra high risk.

Please keep our family in your hearts and prayers for a continued healthy twin pregnancy. We are so very thankful for all the love and support from family and friends!

Fresh

Easton and I had so much fun creating our Holiday tradition collage!
Reorganizing my accessory tray on my newly decorated desk.
After endless days spent wrapping, I finally finished with this sweet gift.
Everyday, I am getting closer to finishing the latest painting from the new Moon Guy Collection.
These pretty pink sunnies by Jimmy Choo will add a fun pop of color to this pregnant mama's morning routine.
Happy January everyone! These last couple of weeks have been filled with Holiday fun, painting, crafting, and overall house organization. With the twins arrival seeming closer and closer, this busy mama is working around the clock!

Nesting In Progress

Today, I'm taking you all inside my current design project...

With the twins making their debut in four months, I am definitely feeling the push to finish my son's shared bedroom. Easton, my oldest loves his big boy room and is so excited to share it with his baby brother. Easton also has been helping design and collaborate his new shared space. He chose his new bed side table as the perfect spot for his favorite toys and treats. Even though Emory is not quite ready to sleep on his own, this December his new bed arrived! Moving forward to Emory's next steps and planning for our new babies makes finishing this room a top priority. Happy Holidays everyone!
